As we all know, CJ Wilson likes throwing cars around a track just about as much as a ball from the mound. When the Dodge Viper ACR started dropping lap records like flies, it began to look very enticing to the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge team owner and LA Angels pitcher.
Marc Miller put his CTSC team owner in contact with IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar GTD team owner, Ben Keating – who also owns and operates the largest Viper dealer in the world, ViperExchange.com in Dallas, TX. After the deal was set, with Wilson owning a new Dodge Viper ACR Extreme Aero Edition, it was agreed that Marc would have the honors of delivering the car to Wilson in Los Angeles – a road trip that would mimic his recent trip for France for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Not long after sharing the idea with Riley Motorsports team director, Bill Riley, Miller had a team mate and a co-driver for the adventure. Sweeten the deal up even more by protecting the stock paint of the car with a protective wrap in a nod to Viper’s entrance in this year’s 24 Hours of Le mans, and you have an adventure worth sharing!
So today at roughly 2:30 PM Eastern, the Viper duo will take the green for the roughly 24 hour drive from Dallas to Texas. Will the trip help the hopeful entry for next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans? We’ll get to find out as it’s happening as the team have created the social media campaign dubbed the #24HrsofMarcandBill.
