The fifth weekend of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship action finished with a street fight on Belle Isle in the heart of Detroit. Winning the Chevrolet SportsCar Classic, Jordan and Ricky Taylor took advantage of other’s misfortune in their Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette Daytona Prototype. The win hinged on pit strategy as well as contact between the fastest-lap setting Action Express No. 5 Corvette and the Visit Florida Racing No. 90 machine. A hard-fought battle in the LMPC class concluded with Renger Van Der Zande and Alex Popow in the NO. 8 Starworks entry taking the class win. The No. 8 Oreca FLM09 was sporting a new livery this weekend, adorned with a glittery metallic flake. The GTD field featured some of the best racing the whole weekend and a hometown favorite ended on top. Ben Keating and Jeroen Bleekemolen motored their Viper Exchange Dodge Viper GT3-R to the front of the class with quick work in the pits being an important part of their race.

As a mechanical engineer, Dusty’s passion is for sports cars and endurance racing. In his opinion, there’s nothing better than a race car closely based on a model that you can go out and buy from the manufacturer showroom. He’s very particular about his writing utensils and appreciates a great, cruelty free pomade.
