Patrick Long and Marc Lieb dominated Race 1 of the Pirelli World Challenge SprintX double-header at Lime Rock Park in the No. 58 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R. The duo was able to pull out a 5.4-second lead over the field after a late-race caution.
Spencer Pumpelly and Dane Cameron finished runner up in the No. 4 Magnus Racing Porsche Audi R8 LMS. Completing the podium was Ben Barnicoat and Alvaro Parente in the No. 6 McLaren 650S. The No. 8 Cadillac ATS-V.R of Jordan Taylor and Michael Cooper and No. 43 NSX GT3 of Ryan Eversley and Tom Dyer completed the top five.
The field was set for a final 10-minute sprint after contact between the No. 14 GMG Racing Porsche and No. 3 Cadillac forced Ricky Taylor off line into the barrier outside of Turn 1. Taylor’s No. 3 Cadillac was forced to retire after the incident.
Jan Heylen and Michael Schein took the honors in the sister Wright Motorsports Porsche GT Pro/Am class as Alessandro Bressan and Yuki Harata took the GT Cup win in their No. 55 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo. Trent Hindman and Adam Merzon took the win in the GTS class.
