Goulart Takes TCA TCB Race 1

Elivan Goulart took the overall win in the first of today’s two TCA/TCB races of the Pirelli World Challenge at Lime Rock Park. Goulart finished the race with a 3.7-second lead in his No. 70 S.A.C. Racing Mazda Global MX-5 Cup Car with the TC class being separated into their own race.

Goulart was chased by Eric Powell in the No. 23 Tech Sport Racing Mazda MX-5. Powell’s final five minutes of the race were much more relaxed after a heated battle with Tom O’Gorman resulted in O’Gorman’s Honda Civic Si returning to pit lane after a flat tire from contact.

Matthew Fassnacht completed the podium in his No. 74 MX-5 Cup Car. Fassnacht continues his points lead after the strong finish despite a short off-track excursion that saw a close swipe at the tire barrier.

Canaan O’Conell took the win in the TCB class in his No. 24 Tech Sport Racing Chevrolet Sonic. O’Connell was able to pull out a significant lead over points leader Jake Pipal in the No. 6 Honda Fit, who battled with PJ Groenke’s Sonic, who finished third.
