The Burnouts presenter Cole Lunde braved the sea of journalists at the LA Auto Show this week. Here’s just a couple of highlights from his visit.
With over 1000 cars on the floor at the 2017 LA Auto Show it was pretty hard to nail down my favorites but I’ll give it a shot.
Mazda Vision Coupe
With it’s incredibly long hood and seamless glass roof, this sleek looking 4 door “coupe” really drew in the crowds and it’s easy to see why. Let’s hope this design language transfers into future Mazda product. With a 3 rotor Wankel in it.
Land Rover Discovery SVX
With its supercharged 5.0l V8 producing 518 HP, 32 inch mudders, and discreet rear mounted winch, this matte silver Disco is a hooligan dressed in a bespoke Savile Row trench coat. A rep from LR USA told me that this is “production ready” and ready to splatter with mud.
The I-Pace is Jaguar’s first all electric SUV. With 516 ft/lbs of instant torque laid down through an AWD system this boldy penned big cat might make Model X owners start glancing over their shoulders. It has 220 mile range and charges to 80% in 90 minutes. With an interior of cleverly mixed materials and textures the I-Pace oversteps the Range Rover in almost every category of luxury and style.
So many cars, so little time. I wish I had an army of minions to cover all of it…
The depth and breadth of this showcase is hard to fathom until you’ve tried to muscle in, beg borrow and steal, and flat out lie for sound bytes, and frankly, is hard to explain. I look forward to bringing it all to you in the best way I know how. If I could only get the sound to work on my Insta Live I would be much happier…
